Enrolment

Our school can help with enrolment queries throughout the year.

Local enrolment area

Check your address on School Finder to see if it is within our local intake area. Most schools have designated local enrolment areas. Note: local enrolment areas are subject to change.

How to enrol

If you live in our intake area and would like to apply to enrol at our school, start by submitting an online enrolment application. Online enrolment is currently only available for Australian or New Zealand citizens and permanent residents.

If you are not able to apply online or you prefer not to, download the paper application to enrol (PDF 768.4KB) form. Please complete the form in English. A translated application to enrol may help you do this.

Online enrolment can also be used for out-of-area enrolment. Please note that out-of-area enrolment procedures are subject to the department’s enrolment policy.

Enrolment applications are finalised at the school.

Cabramatta Public School's Procedure:

1. Any family who lives outside the school’s boundary and wishes their child to be enrolled as a Non-Local is required to complete the school’s APPLICATION FOR NON-LOCAL ENROLMENT and provide proof of residence.

2. The criteria for consideration for a non-local placement are:

  • siblings already enrolled at the school
  • proximity and access to the school
  • safety and supervision of the student before and after school
  • medical reasons
  • compassionate circumstances

3. The application will be considered by the Enrolment Panel by referencing the stated criteria.

4. When the panel considers that the stated reasons do not meet the requirements of the criteria, the panel will inform the applicant by letter which will include an opportunity to appeal the decision. (See App. 1)

5. Where the panel considers that the applicant has sufficiently addressed the criteria, the Principal or delegate will contact the local school to gain further information and to discuss the application.

6. Following this discussion, the decision will be communicated to the applicant by letter.

7. In the case of applications from families who are transferring from another school, the procedures will be expedited to ensure a prompt response.

INTAKE AREA ADJUSTMENT FOR LANSVALE PS and CABRAMATTA PS

INTAKE AREA ADJUSTMENT FOR LANSVALE PS and CABRAMATTA PS

Dear Parents and Carers of Cabramatta Public School,

As our valued partners in learning, you are no doubt aware the population demographics are continuing to change in the Cabramatta/Lansvale area.

The capacity of our local schools to accommodate increased enrolments is something we have to address in order to continue to provide our high quality teaching and to maintain our outstanding student learning.

As communities grow and change, all schools review their catchment area to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the community and the capacity of the school.

The Department of Education has a program of developing and upgrading schools in our area, as well as managing and responding to population changes within catchment areas to ensure that learning environments across NSW serve current and future educational needs.

These approaches include: - reviewing school intake areas to create room for more students across schools in our local area - enforcing the department’s school enrolment policy around non-local enrolments

What is changing? After careful analysis of key data by experts, and in consultation with myself and the principal of Lansvale Public School an intake area adjustment has been made to the Cabramatta Public School and Lansvale Public School boundaries. A map of the revised intake areas is attached.

When you have a look at the map you will see that an area bordered by a section of Cabramatta Road East, Fairview Road, Curtin Street and Bloomfield Street will shift from Lansvale Public School intake area to become part of Cabramatta Public School intake area.

It’s a small, but practical change. It will increase convenience and provide easier access to school for local families.

There will be fewer circumstances of students living close to, and in some cases directly opposite, a primary school which is outside the boundary.

When does this change become effective? The adjustment will impact all new enrolments in Cabramatta Public School (Kindergarten to Year 6) and Lansvale Public School (Pre School to Year 6) from the first day of Term 1, 2022.

What does this mean for new enrolments and siblings? New enrolments cannot be accepted from those residents outside our new local intake area from the start of the 2022 school year unless an older sibling is already enrolled at the school.

Parents and carers can apply for non-local enrolment and their application will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the school in line with the Department’s Enrolment policy.

Between the date when the boundary change takes effect in October and the start of the 2022 school year, parents and carers who live within the new, expanded boundary area have the option to enrol their children in our school.

From 2022, students can continue to enrol in our school if they have a sibling in the school regardless of whether we are at enrolment capacity.

All students are entitled to be enrolled in their local school. School Finder The new school intake areas will be available for viewing from the week of 25 October using the NSW Public School tool www.schools.nsw.edu.au/schoolfinder.

You can access School Finder via the enrolment section of each school’s website.

Thank you for your support of this extension of our school boundary. It will ensure that students who live close by can conveniently access the quality education delivered at Cabramatta Public School.
