A message from Mr Stelzer.

A big hello to all of our Cabramatta Public School families! Warami!

I hope that the students have been able to enjoy the holiday and to take a break from online and workbook learning. I also hope that parents and carers are coping with having the kids at home for an extended period.

I thank you, once again, for your understanding and support of the school last term as we moved away from face-to-face teaching to learning at home. Under the circumstances, this has helped our community and country to record very low levels of COVID 19 compared to many other countries. While this has been difficult for all of us, it has ensured that we have remained safe and healthy. There is a saying..."Short term pain for long term gain." It is important to remember that, while this situation has been frustrating, we need to focus on the long term benefit for all of us.

Due to these improvements the government is now wanting to move into a new phase for the gradual return of students. There is some controversy about this move as COVID 19 has not been fully eliminated, nor a vaccine developed, but the government feels that the reduction of cases overall and the low levels of cases in children indicate that students can begin a slow return to school during Term 2. The government wants students to begin to return to school for one day a week from Week 3 (May 11) with a gradual increase during the term. The government asks that students remain home for the next two weeks, similar to what happened for the last two weeks of last term. If you are unable to look after your children due to work or other important reasons, our school will be open for these students as it was last term.

In the meantime, the school will be working out a plan for the return of students in Week 3 and we will let you know of these arrangements which will include a continuation of learning at home for the days when students do not attend school. This will include a timetable, extra cleaning and hygiene processes. Until you hear from the school, we ask that your children remain at home learning either online or using booklets. If you require new booklets, please call into the office, as you have been, to collect them from this Wednesday, April 29. Online learning will continue via Google classroom and Seesaw as it did last term.

Next Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th April will be School Development Days so students do not begin school learning until Wednesday 29th April.

If you have any enquiries, please contact the school on 9724 1534.

We have worked together very well to fight this horrible virus. We just need a little more patience and co-operation to ensure that we win this medical battle to keep ourselves healthy and safe. Our students will continue to learn and will not be disadvantaged as we have wonderfully committed staff and supportive families to help them maintain their learning. In fact, many of our staff and students are learning new skills which will help them in the future.

My best wishes to our caring Cabramatta learning community and families.
