Latest update from Mr Stelzer about Weeks 3 and 4 at Cabramatta Public School.

Good Afternoon to all of the Cabramatta Public School families.

I hope that you are well. Thank you for your support of the school as we meet the challenge of social distancing and the virus.

I am very pleased to see many of our students working very hard at home to maintain their learning. Don't forget to take rest breaks and do some exercise. Please continue to liaise with your teacher if you have any questions.

As our country has managed to successfully resist the spread of the virus compared to other countries, the government has asked for public schools to return students to school for one day a week for the next two weeks. They are doing this to allow students and schools to prepare for a full time return when the conditions are right.

Here at Cabramatta, the arrangements for students returning to school during the next two weeks are as follows:

  • Mondays: Kindergarten, Year 1 and 3/6R
  • Tuesdays: Year 2, Year 3 and K/6 Magic
  • Wednesdays: Year 4 and K/6 Rainbow
  • Thursdays: Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6)

According to the government's policy, the school will continue to provide classes for students whose parents and carers need to work and are unable to provide supervision in the home. For the next two weeks all classes will be split in half to ensure social distancing. This means that there will be no more than 14 students in each room. These smaller groups will swap during the day so that the usual classroom teacher, or their substitute, will spend time with all students.

We have a small number of our classroom teachers who are working from home due to medical conditions which places them at high risk of the virus.

Students will need to bring their own food as the canteen will NOT be open next week. There is a possibility that it will open in Week 4.

Drop off

To do our best to allow for social distancing, we ask parents and carers to drop their children at either the Levuka St or Cumberland St gates and leave as quickly as possible to minimise contact with other families. The children will be supervised when they arrive.

Pick Up

The following arrangements will apply:

  • Kindergarten students can be collected from the K-2 COLA at 2.45 p.m.
  • Year 1 students can be collected from the 3-6 COLA at 2.45 pm.
  • Year 2 students can be collected from the K-2 COLA at 2.45 p.m.
  • Year 3 classes can be collected from the 3-6 COLA at 2.45 p.m.
  • Year 4 students can be collected from the 3-6 COLA at 2.45 p.m.
  • Stage 3 students can be collected from either the 3-6 COLA and Grass area near the flag pole at 2. p.m.
  • At 3.00 pm students who are still on site will leave as normal, whether that be to walk home or meet a parent or carer arriving by car.

If you have any questions, please contact the school on 9724 1534 or with your teacher on Seesaw. Thank you, once again, for your assistance, understanding and support.

We look forward to catching up with our community.

Glen Stelzer.
