What is available?

Annual School Carnivals

Cabramatta Public School hosts three major carnivals each year—Swimming, Athletics, and Cross Country—bringing the whole school community together to celebrate participation, personal achievement, and team spirit. These events inspire students to aim for their personal best, while high-performing athletes have the opportunity to advance through a competitive pathway from school to zone, regional, and state carnivals. Families enjoy seeing their children supported to challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and succeed at every stage.

Public speaking

At Cabramatta Public School, students have the opportunity to enhance their thinking, communication, and teamwork skills through public speaking. They can also participate in competitions at local and state levels, gaining valuable experience and confidence.

Spelling Bee

The Premier's Spelling Bee at Cabramatta Public School is designed mainly for Stage 2 and 3 students but also welcomes younger Stage 1 students. This allows a wide range of students to participate, helping them build confidence and improve their spelling and vocabulary skills at their own level.

For families, this means their children get to enhance their language skills in a fun and supportive way, which supports their overall learning and success in literacy as part of the NSW English curriculum.

Music

At Cabramatta Public School, our music programs offer a range of exciting opportunities for students to explore and develop their musical talents. This includes opportunities like our school choir, which builds confidence and teamwork through regular performances at school and community events, as well as participation in the large-scale Pulse Alive mass choir, connecting students with peers across the region.

Our strength lies in catering to all skill levels, from general participation to advanced learning through our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) music programs that challenge and nurture talented musicians. Families benefit from knowing their child can develop musical skills, confidence, and creativity in a supportive and enriching environment, with opportunities to shine at our annual Creative Arts Showcase.

Production

Cabramatta Public School’s annual production offers special opportunities for High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) students while also welcoming students of all skill levels. Our strength lies in identifying and developing talent in every student through creative roles in dance, music, drama, and language. It helps these students grow their talents while building important skills like communication, teamwork, confidence, and resilience in a supportive environment.

For families, this means their children can take part in an exciting and enjoyable experience that boosts their personal growth and creativity, while also giving families the chance to celebrate their children’s achievements at popular performances that bring the whole school and community together.

HPGE Senior Dance Group

Our Senior Dance group have regular, weekly rehearsals to develop their dance skills and talents over time. This is a strength because it offers consistent practice and growth opportunities, helping students improve their technique and confidence in a supportive setting.

For families, this means their children can enjoy a fun and creative activity that builds their abilities, and families can take pride in seeing their children perform at important school events, including the popular annual school production.

Cabra Jump Stars

The Cabramatta skipping group encourages students to be active while also building skills and connecting with the school community through participation in various performance events which includes our annual school production. This is a strength because it helps students improve their physical fitness, learn teamwork, and feel a sense of belonging.

For families, this means their children are staying healthy, developing important social skills, and enjoying positive experiences that bring the school community together.

PSSA

Starting from Term 1 Week 5 through to Term 4 Week 8, our school offers weekly PSSA inter-school competitions that set us apart by providing consistent, structured opportunities for students to engage in sports like soccer, netball, cricket, and more. This ongoing program not only helps students develop essential skills and sportsmanship but also fosters a genuine love for physical activity.

Parents and families benefit because their children build teamwork, resilience, and healthy habits through regular training and games, promoting overall wellbeing and a positive school experience.

Representative Sport Opportunities

Cabramatta Public School uniquely supports talented athletes by offering trials for zone representative teams in sports such as netball, soccer, and more. This structured pathway—from Zone to Regional to State levels—enables students to challenge themselves, hone their skills, and pursue their sporting passions with clear goals. Families benefit from knowing their children have access to high-level competitive opportunities that encourage personal growth, achievement, and the pride of representing their school on bigger stages.

Specialist Sporting Programs

Our school partners with expert external coaches and providers to deliver high-quality basketball, netball, and soccer programs. These sessions offer students access to professional skill development, extra game play opportunities, and engaging activities tailored to support everyone—from beginners to advanced players. Families benefit from knowing their children receive specialised coaching that boosts confidence, enhances abilities, and fosters a lifelong love of sport in a supportive environment.

Scrabble

Cabramatta Public School’s Scrabble program has two groups: a lunch club where all students can join and learn the basics, and a special Friday group for students who are very good at Scrabble or want to improve a lot. This is a strength because it helps all students, whether they are beginners or more advanced players, to enjoy the game and learn at their own level.

For families, this means their children can have fun playing Scrabble while improving important skills like reading, spelling, and maths, and the more skilled students can get extra help to compete in bigger tournaments if they want to.

Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council (SRC) at Cabramatta Public School not only gives students a voice but also actively involves them in leadership, decision-making, and community service. This is a strength because it helps students build important skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving while learning about their rights and responsibilities as part of a community.

For families, this means their children gain confidence and leadership abilities, get involved in meaningful activities that support the school and wider community, and help create a positive, safe, and caring school environment that benefits all students.

Trips and excursions

Our students enjoy stepping outside the classroom to explore, learn, and try new experiences. These opportunities help them grow, build confidence, and understand how their learning connects to the wider world.
