At Cabramatta Public School, we want every student to be challenged and supported, especially those who show high potential or are gifted. We follow the NSW Department of Education’s HPGE policy, which makes sure all schools help gifted students learn in ways that suit them best.
Since 2021, all NSW public schools must follow this policy. We don’t need a separate HPGE policy, but we have clear plans and programs at our school to support our gifted students.
What guides us:
- Every student, no matter their background or situation, deserves learning programs that meet their needs and help them do their best.
- We believe all students, including gifted ones, should be encouraged to aim high and achieve excellence.
- Gifted students learn best in schools with great teachers, good learning programs, and strong leadership.
- Students have different levels of potential, so we adjust our teaching to match what each student needs.
At Cabramatta Public School, we are committed to providing high potential and gifted education through a team of highly skilled teacherss. Our educators continually enhance their expertise to ensure every student benefits from high-quality, engaging teaching. Our leadership team actively participates in professional development and applies evaluative thinking to regularly review the effectiveness of teaching programs and strategies, making improvements as needed to support student success.
To further nurture students' talents, we offer a range of enriching opportunities, including our school production that fosters creativity in the performing arts, music programs, Scrabble club, sport and participation in ICAS assessments to develop critical thinking and language skills.
